We have in this issue a piece written by the Editors of Balloon Life virtually answering every question that a novice needs to know about ballooning as an aviation sport. A well compiled information Sheet which could well be the basis of any of our basic brochures on ballooning. While going through various aviation sites on the web. I discovered the TIGHAR site - The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery. They have obviously done useful research on various facets of aviation. I was particularly impressed to see the research the "Earhart Project" team has done on one of the Legends in Aviation - Amelia Earhart - who mysteriously disappeared during a flight across the Pacific Ocean in 1937. The "Earhart Project" throws up some interesting facts and draws some very valid conclusions on the last flight done by Amelia. In another piece David H. Grover writes in to give us a detailed account of the preparations and rehearsals that were made to enable the success of the first ever flight over the North Pole by Richard Byrd, the MacMillan Arctic Expedition. Finally, we have a piece on Kite Flying written is by Samarjit Guha from India about an Indian who has a passion for making kites in special shapes and designs.
Happy Reading !
