MailAny help Chung Ling Soo

Dear Editor,

I am researching a particular person and his role in aviation history.
His name was William Robinson. He was a famous magician at the turn of
the century who went by the stage name Chung Ling Soo. Before W.W.I he
also designed and manufactured large model airplanes and I am looking
for information on his activities and efforts in this field. He was an
American but I believe his manufacturing operation was in England. Any
suggestions of how I might proceed or any leads or information would be
greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
John Cousins

Dear John Cousins,

As a card magician with a fascination of the history of magic, here's what
I came up with:

I have available a pamphlet titled "They Stayed behind". This booklet is
about Chun ling Soos mechanics. They opened a factory in Austraila, and
never left. There is a lot of interesting information in this booklet.
The boolket is old, and is a collectors item. Price is $35

In the last month or so, a new book called the "The silence of Chung Ling
Soo" became available. This 488 page book is compiled by Todd Karr. It
was reviewed in the current issue of "Genii" magazine, which is a
publication for magicians, available at magic stores.

It contains a number of photographs and plates, and a collection of
writings. It also contains a number of essays by and about William
Robinson, and also 50 of his letters to Houdini. It also goes into detail
about 50 close up and stage effects. I have not seen this book, so I don't
know if it details his aeronautical activites. It's an expensive book.
Price is $100 US dollars.

You can get more information and order it from: www.miraclefactory.org
