The December issue of Air Sports International is the last issue of this millennium ! I wonder if people in Dec 999 ever imagined that we would be publishing magazines on the Internet with the intermediate stage of paper publishing lasting a full millennium and more. It has been two years since we have been on the net. A hectic 24 issues which has kept our team on its toes and glued to the computer - why can't we call it the 'intelligent box' like the TV is called the 'idiot box' ? The speed and quality of information dissemination has undergone a major change ever since the Internet became the norm in our daily lives. We have been no exception. We too needed to 'keep up with Jones' and that we did with remarkable ease. The transition from the paper printed edition till 1997 and the first of our web editions in January 1998, was a very smooth change, but it took us a good three months to design and settle down as the very first issue on the net had to be acceptable to all our readers. It is now easier to get the stories from our writers. Pictures arrive instantly and getting the magazine ready is no longer a painful long drawn out affair. We just need 10 working days to work on it technically. The remaining days are used for planning and contacting the writers to get us the article. Stories arrive virtually at the very last minutes making us modify our pages as we uplift (FTP) to our server. This last issue of the millenium has been no exception. We were all ready to go up with our planned features when in arrived an interesting piece and we were busy changing pages and the links on all the pages. Unlike the print media the Internet media the 'pages' are closely linked with each other. In case of the printed magazine we could print pages by stages and even substitute an odd page. Here all links get changed the moment we try to change a single link.
