NOTE

I am providing each of you with the ftp site, the bookmark information and password.

You are actively encouraged to upload any articles you would like too see added to the Flight Safety Section. (See "protocol" below.)

The ftp Site is;

ftp://fwilson:@www2.junction.net//c/fwilson/

On Anarchie Pro the (log in) Bookmark information you will need is:

Server: www2.junction.net

Path: /c/fwilson/

Username: fwilson

Password: Sea.hawk
(There is a period between Sea and hawk. The S must be Capital.)

Protocol

Please create each document in Netscape Composer unless prior arrangements are made. Create a new folder on your hard disk. All contributing files must be stored in the same folder. Name each article in small caps followed by .html (periodhtml)

Example: crash.html

If you create any tags in the article, use small caps for the links (again)

Example: topofpage (can be any single word)

Download each article into the "index" folder only at the ftp site.

Notify me when you downloaded your new article, and to which catagory / section it belongs and I will manage the links for it.

If you have any revisions you would like to make to any of my articles, go ahead - they are all freeware - just email me what paragraphs you want cut, and what you want put in to replace it. I like this. Don't be afraid to comment.

Do not modify anyone elses articles without their permission.

Mark Articles "Copywrite" if you prefer to maintain tight control over the contents.

After the title of each article, include the Revision number and Date, to ensure we all know which is the latest (current) version.

Keep articles terse and to the point. "To be effective, a procedure should be a simple explanation of what is expected of a person or group. Ambiguity and verbosity are the greatest sins of procedure writing." ... Besides - Server Disk space costs money.

This contents of this web page are to be of a non-commerical nature.

I reserve the right to remove any content I find offensive or or contrary to the purpose of this service.

Many topic areas have not yet been addressed.

- Paragliding content is still limited.

- I would like to see a page dedicated to reference to exceptionally good safety books.

- I am open to any and all suggestions.

Finally, please check to see that your contact information is current at:

Free Movement of Hang Glider/Paraglider Pilots

Below is a copy of a message sent to NAC Presidents and national hang gliding federation presidents (where we have details of these). Could you please take steps to ensure that the necessary response is given?

Website : http://www.fai.org

Dear Presidents,

Please find attached a letter from Mr Olivier Burghelle, President of the FAI Hang Gliding and Paragliding Commission (CIVL), in which he kindly requests information about regulations in your country concerning visiting pilots. Would you please be kind enough to respond to Mr Burghelle by 18 February 2000?

"Dear President,

A few years ago, CIVL developed the IPPI Card which can be used as a kind of international licence for Hanggliding and Paragliding. All the necessary information relating to this IPPI Card is available on the CIVL/FAI web site at:

As the chairman of CIVL, I have been asked to make an enquiry about the countries that accept the IPPI card, and this is the aim of this mailing. I would appreciate it if you could answer the few following questions directly to me by e mail or ordinary mail at my private address :

Olivier Burghelle

e-mail : olivier.burghelle@wanadoo.fr

I anticipated your co-operation by announcing that I would be able to produce the results of this survey at the next CIVL meeting by the end of February.

Questionnaire :

Is the IPPI Card accepted in your country?

What is the minimum legal insurance coverage required in your country?

What additional coverage does your country recommend (such as medical insurance, search and rescue etc...)?

Is your NAC prepared to provide a special insurance coverage for guest pilots who do not comply with your national law?

You will readily understand the importance of this information for pilots wishing to visit your country.
