Flight from the Shetland
Islands From : Geoffrey W. Raebel I am looking at the feasibility of conducting a flight from the Shetland Islands back to the English Channel through France, Holland, Denmark and Sweden and coastwise around Norway to Finland and Russia. My intention is to emulate a flight by RAAF Hampden Bombers in 1942. If I do it my intention is to stay 'real', the flight would be VFR with no record attempts. I am familiar with Australian terms WAC (Wide Area Chart) ERSA ((Enroute supplement (airfields)) and VTC (Visual Terminal Chart) for flight planning. Are you able to advise whether these are available for the areas mentioned, what the terminology is and where they may be obtained. I fly under the Australian Ultralight Federation and have recently published a book on the Australian Airforce in Russia. Thanks. |

World Youth Games in Moscow From : Evgeniy BAKALOV Dear Sir, In accordance with the initial information about the parachutist expedition to the North Pole I provide you with the following details: On 29 December 1997 our expedition received an official status and was included into official preparation and realization program of the first World Youth Games in Moscow conducted under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee. For most countries this event will become a national record of extreme types of sport. Hoisting a national flag and a flag of your companies (firms) on the North Pole will consolidate the prestige of your companies (firms) in front of the international society. Mass media that ensures information support of the World Youth Games will provide large-scale presentation of this event to the whole of the world. Technical support of the expedition permits to deliver to the North Pole 5 tons of cargo for conducting advertising, trick (stunt) and commercial video filming and photographing. Professional cameramen and photographers will take part in the expedition. It will be possible to conduct unprecedented advertising photography that will permit to create an exclusive advertising product for your companies (firms). Unordinary advertisement of your production (your items) (of your firm) in the extreme conditions of the North Pole will for sure raise interest among potential buyers (partners) and permit to raise the level of prestige of your companies (firms) (trade mark). Details of the expedition: Time of the expedition: from 15 to 23 April 1998 Number of participants: up to 100 persons Parachute jump and drop of cargo from the IL-76 aircraft Program of the action:
