Editorial January 2001

Atul Dev - Editor With this issue of Air Sports International we start the Third Millennium. This issue also marks the completion of 10 years of the magazine and we now move into the second decade. Of these 10 years, we were in the print format for the first 7 years during which we published 20 issues of Air Sports International. Since we went electronic we have released 36 issue during 1998, 1999 and 2000.

In this issue we have news from EAA on the induction of 9 aviators in to their Halls of Fame. A well deserved honour for those that have been so honoured.

We have carried a report on the Gordon Bennett Race 2000 under the tittle of "Across 7 Countries in 70 Hours". A report written by Willy Eimers and translated into English by Ulrich Hohmann.

A letter from one of our readers prompted us to research and make a story on the Pacific Adventure undertaken by two microlight pilots in 1999. In this there is a lesson. To be known to the world we need to make a lot of noise about our activities as the best of events can be lost to the world if not reported upon in the media for the others to read. It was quite an effort to cull all important information from their web sites and prepare the story. It trust we live up to your expectations.

Finally, we have a report on Gyps Africanus. Doug Jacobs wrote this report for the Soaring Society of America. We carry this story with due acknowledgement to the author and the SSA.

May I take this opportunity of wishing our readers a Happy New Year, A Happy New Decade, a Happy New Century, a Happy New Millenium and Happy Flying always !
