A NEW ERA President FAIFAI is undergoing great changes. One such change is our information system. The advent of the Internet and the establishment of the FAI Web Pages have opened new possibilities of a magnitude that we can only fantasise about. True, there are many people without access to Internet, but they are about to be outnumbered by those who have.

For us, the officers that you have elected to serve you, information distribution has always been THE major problem. The lack of a real channel through which we could inform you and tell you what was being done and how it might affect you, has caused us much frustration. Theoretically, FAI's matrix organisation should be well suited for distribution of information. In real life, however, it has proven less than ideal for the purpose.

We developed Air Sports International, our nice and glossy magazine, hoping to create a new information medium. Again, distribution was channelled through our member organisations, and again, it failed to reach you. Even when distributed free to all Air Sport Commission delegates, it did not really reach FAI's grass roots.

Now, we have decided to take the direct route. More than 3,000 hits per day on our web pages convinced us that there is a reading public out there. The electronic magazine that you are reading right now, is our new channel to YOU. It is accessible by anyone with a PC, a modem and a phone line; put it in your "Favourites" or "Bookmarks" and check for new contents each month.

FAI works for the aviators and air sports enthusiasts of the world. That means YOU. It is you and all your aviation friends who ARE the FAI. We want to hear from you about the things that are on YOUR mind, and we wish to tell you what we are doing about them. Pop an email to the editor and see what happens. If nothing happens, tell me.
