SA Ballooning
From : oldplane@iafrica.com

Hello

Congratulations to all on the Montgolfier day flight. Here in South Africa we got 9 balloons together for a mini - meet. Terry Adams inflated one of the oldest balloons in the country, although could not fly due to the porosity of the envelope. Tracy Robb was the hare flying a Cameron A210, and with local knowledge of the terrain managed to confuse the hounds very well. Eventually Simon Hodges managed to land closest, followed by Felicity Clegg, Ray Leipa, Rob Lowson, and Arthur Westworth, Bill Harrop and Johan van der Vyffer. The day was ended with a Montgolfier party at a local restuarant.

Other news is that Tracy Robb was recently awarded the Don Tilley trophy for the advancement of aviation safety, This was awarded by the Aero Club for having achieved 1000 accident free hours in free balloons. Tracy is the first lady pilot to achieve this in South Africa. I would like to hear from other lady pilots with 1000 or more hours....

We are now experiencing the most wonderful ballooning weather here, although the temperatures have been reaching the mid thirties (Centigrade) by 0900 on some mornings. We are planning a flight to see in the new millenium with take off at 2330 an 31 Dec 1999.

If there is an interest, I will send a bi-monthly update of the balloon scene here in South Africa.

Buoyant regards
Tracy Robb

Hi

I have recieved your message. You are asking a good question.

In Yugoslavia we had the same problem, but we created a unique federation made of PG & HG pilots. We have the same rights and we use the same rules for flying.

I think that you should help them in organizing their future, because you are also pilots but only on a different kind of wing. You don't need to accept my proposition if you think that is not OK.

Please if you need more help and informations call us.

Best regards,

Balloonmeister Job
From : LKonash@interserv.com

Dear Editor,

I am a pilot and member of the BFA in the US and am doing research into the job of Balloonmeister for balloon events. I am gathering all current information and would appreciate you letting me know if you have any information....job description, responsibilities, liabilities, pay scale, etc. that might be currently published. Also, does your organization publish a guide for event rules and regulations?

Thanks for your time and response.

Fly safely,
