From The Secretary General's Desk ASI January 1999 Issue

Max Bishop

The staff of the FAI Secretariat wish all our readers a very Happy New Year for this last year of the Millennium.

Following the mid-winter break, we are now going ahead at full throttle to set up all the FAI services in Switzerland. FAI Commission meetings have been planned to take place at the Olympic Museum on the lakeside and in various other venues, and on 29 May IOC President Samaranch will be our guest of honour at a demonstration of air sports and official plaque unveiling ceremony. On 21 January, local dignitaries and press and media will visit the FAI offices for the first time.

Our Lausanne team is now complete - at least for the time being. The new staff in the FAI Office, in addition to Assistant Secretary General Thierry MONTIGNEAUX and Administrative Secretary Alison McDONALD, who moved with us from Paris, are:

  • Myriam CONOD, Accounts Secretary, who will be looking after all our financial affairs;
  • Valentine DE RAEMY, Bi-lingual Secretary, who will be responsible principally for matters concerning FAI Championships and Records and the World Air Games; and
  • Mathieu FOUVY, a keen paraglider and helicopter pilot who will be evaluating world record claims and helping to promote FAI through our web-site and other channels.

We hope to profile all these team members in future issues and are confident that the new team, once "run in" will provide excellent service to the world air sport community.
