The XXX issue of Air Sports International is now on your screens. Unlike the tipplers our XXX represents the 30th issue since we started publishing on the net in Jan 1998. The highlight of month of May was the meeting of the FAI Council held at Lausanne during the last week of May. We were hoping to be able to carry a full report of the proceedings of this meeting in the current issue but timing constraints prevent us from doing so. We will have a full report on the Council's deliberations in the July issue. We have, however, carried the 'In Memoriam' part of the Councils deliberations in the Air Waves column of Air Sports International. These were the friends of the FAI that have passed away since the last General Conference. The Council stood in silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls who were so closely associated with the FAI. In this issue we have used some very interesting stories taken from the personal web sites of our air sports-men. These would, perhaps, have gone unnoticed had we not searched the web for such interesting sites and stories. We bring forward some of the more interesting ones. In this issue we have Jim McKay giving us his experiences of flying Ultralights. A well illustrated piece that should motivate a lot of our readers to take to microlights. Paragliding has gone the parachuting way - accuracy is now the name of the game. Jurij Vertacnik reports from Slovenia on the '2000 Slovenian Open Paragliding Accuracy Championship'. History is one thing that fascinates me as I am certain it does many others. When we found a feature by David McCullough on his web site taking us back in time to the days of "Daredevil Lindbergh and his Barnstorming Days", our immediate reaction was to carry this for the benefit of readers of Air Sports International. From Spain we have a story about gliding by Paul Crabb - 'Senasa Gliding Challenge'. A blow by blow account of a local championship well attended by soaring pilots. Finally we have a story from India where Andy Buchan experiences his first few flights in Hang Gliders and Motorised Hang Gliders. This story has been reproduced with the kind permission of Mr David Bremner, Editor, Microlight Flying. All in all an interesting issue. Happy Reading !
