The June issue is being prepared under the shadow of the mid-year meetings of the FAI Council and all the Commissions and Committees. The issue is being set well before our usual deadline, as we would all be meeting at Lausanne from 24th May onwards for the entire week thus leaving us no time to work on it after the meetings are over. Our schedule date has been the fist of the month and we have not delayed an issue since Jan 1998. A lot of our correspondents have promised to bring in articles at Lausanne and so our July issue already hold out the promise of being a bumper issue. In this issue we have two interesting articles written by two pilots who learn't flying under very adverse circumstances. One is by Joan Walsh who got her wings on a microlight and the other is by Sean Walshe, who got his wings at the age of 50 inspite of a spinal injury 10 years ago ! Both articles have been reproduced from Microlight Flying (MF), kind courtesy David Bremner, Editor, MF. We present a report written by Karen Diamond on the FAI World Grand Prix of Aviation held in China. This article is kind courtesy Sport Aerobatics magazine of which Karen is the Editor. The next article has Michael Beinhauer write in his reaction on an emergency he had faced recently. Do read it and place yourself in his 'shoes' (or 'cockpit' !) and decide what would you have done under similar circumstances ? The fifth article is by Howard Travers, UK Delegate and Vice President CIVL, who describes his sojourn to Australia to do Paragliding. The article being extremely long has been split into two. The second half shall be carried in the July issue. Enjoy the issue.
