| Dear Sir, A helicopter was flying around Seattle yesterday when an electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft's electronic navigation and communications equipment. Due to the clouds and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter's position and course to steer to the airport. The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, drew a handwritten sign, and held it in the helicopter's window. The pilot's sign said "WHERE AM I?" in large letters. People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a large sign, and held in a building window. Their sign said "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER." The pilot smiled, waved, looked at his map, determined the course to steer to SEATAC airport, and landed safely. After they were on the ground, the co-pilot asked the pilot how the
"YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER" sign helped determine their position. The
pilot responded "I knew that had to be the MICROSOFT building because,
similar to their help-lines, they gave me a technically correct but
completely useless answer." |
| Dear Sir, In my private property there is a very fine and extremely rare plate made by the well-known porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal in Selb, Southern Germany / Bavaria.
There are the initials of the painter, to be seen very little on the front ´HF´ ( what means ´Heinrich Fink´) . You see the ´Holy Mountain of the glider pilots of the whole world`, the eagle on a rock - postament, behind you see the landscape of Hessen / the Rhoen. The price for the ´picture - plate´ from the start of the 1930 ies includes packing and postage, first class air-mail, it is USD 550. I would like to offer this finde work of art to an American glider pilot or such an organisation. Would you please be so friendly to help me, on which way I coem to the address of the American glider pilot association, address or e-mail, whatever .. Thank you very much for your understanding and your support! |
| Dear Sir, My query relates to microlights (sec 1 0 fixed wing) .While attempting
long distance/ round the world flights i.e Colin bodil, Brian Milton
, mike blyte etc it is apparent that they exceeded the weight limits
for microlights on certain legs e.g the Atlantic crossings due Is it permissible to exceed the gross weight if extra fuel is carried
and still be eligible to claim a record in the microlight category ?
also is the weight of survival equipment to included in the gross weight

| Dear Sir, While perusing your excellent site, looking for the definition of 'hang glider' and other rules, I discovered that you have no listing in the hang gliding section of your links page for the USA hang gliding organization, the United States Hang Gliding Association, www.ushga.org - I'm sure this is an oversight. Additionally, you do not list the USHGA pulications 'Hang Gliding' and 'Paragliding' in your hang gliding publications section. A link to 'Delta & Parapendio' magazine would qualify for your list
as well. |
